L’Ambassade des États-Unis exprime sa consternation face au verdict d’un an d’emprisonnement annoncé la semaine dernière à l’encontre de Hiary Rapanoelina, Administrateur d’un groupe Facebook, condamné et jugé alors que la plainte pour diffamation ainsi que les autres charges ont été retirées. La liberté d’expression est vitale pour une démocratie forte, et nous exhortons le gouvernement à prendre un rôle de leadership dans le soutien et la défense des droits de ses citoyens.

The United States Embassy is dismayed by the one-year jail sentence announced last week for Facebook group administrator Hiary Rapanoelina, who was convicted and sentenced after defamation and other complaints against him were withdrawn. Freedom of speech is vital to a strong democracy, and we urge the government to take a leadership role in supporting and defending the rights of its citizens.
